What Does It Mean to Be "Spiritually Blind"?

Spiritual blindness is being unable to see the truth of God through Jesus. We are all born into a state of blindness because of our sin.

Spiritual blindness refers to a condition where an individual is unable to perceive God or understand His divine message.

Spiritual blindness is a profound state of not recognizing God’s truth, rejecting Christ, and remaining in darkness.

We read in 2 Corinthians 4:4, who is responsible for spiritual blindness, “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”

Some examples of spiritual blindness would be:

1.Lack of Sight: To be spiritually blind means not seeing Christ, not seeing God.

2.Unbelief and Rejection: Spiritual blindness is experienced by those who do not believe in God, Jesus Christ, and His Word.

3.Inability to Understand: Spiritually blind individuals cannot accept the teachings of Christ or recognize His authority in their lives.

4.Foolishness: The truth of God’s Word sounds foolish to them, and they are described as “fools” because of their rejection.

Spiritual blindness is a dangerous thing to our salvation, but we can overcome the blindness and see the Light of God by recognizing its existence, prayer and meditation, engage with spiritual teachings, being humble, desiring for the light of God.

I ask the Lord today for all that are spiritually blind that the Lord will help open their blinded eyes as Elisha did for his servant back in

II Kings 6;16-17 as it reads,

“Oh Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.
