The church is Christ’s kingdom on earth!

Matthew 16:18 says And I tell you, you are Peter, and this rock I will build my church, and powers of death shall not prevail against it. This proclamation from Christ came following Peter’s confession that was a response to a question ask by Christ. Who do you say that I am? That’s a question that is applicable to all people. Christ ask this question in order that we might profess our faith in him and be saved. He asks in order that once we have answered it, we like Peter might, also tell others who Jesus is- the Savior of the world.

So, what are some of the characteristics of the Lord’s church, his kingdom? First there are some requirements. Acts 2:47 Says, And the Lord added to the church daily those who were saved. It is the Lord’s church paid for with his precious blood. 1 Corinthians 6:20 Says, for you have been bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. Subjects in a kingdom must submit to the King’s authority. Often, I hear people say. I know that the bible says that, but I don’t think you have to do that. That is not submission to Lord’s will, I fear that we live in a time when a lot of people want to live under the canopy of Christianity without conforming their lives to be Christ like. Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Being part of a kingdom requires action on our parts and we have a King that is worthy to be exalted, is worthy of honor, is worthy to be praised. We are not entitled to anything, but because of God’s mercy we have access to be members of a kingdom. It is a privilege to serve a King that looks out for us, who has our best interest at heart. If you’re not part of God’s kingdom make the decision to become part of it today!
