Be a good Samaritan in 2025!

Recently I was having a discussion with one of our members at church and he was telling me how he really struggled with knowing when to help someone like someone standing on the street corner. Often, we are confronted with this situation, maybe the person has a sign saying I need money to get something to eat. We must make a decision about what to do, we may say well, you need to get a job like I did.

The brother I mentioned was in Walmart a few weeks ago and this fellow approached him and went on by, but then turn and ask Dick if he could give him two dollars to get something to eat. So, Dick gave him four dollars, knowing two dollars don’t buy much these days. The man was very grateful and went on his way. When Dick and his wife finished their shopping at Walmart, they went to the Kings Buffet and got some food to take home for lunch. Surprisingly when the woman at the register rung up the food it was eight dollars.  A stranger who was behind Dick taped him on the shoulder and said sir I would like to pay for your food, Dick said I have money to pay with, the man said would you please let me pay for your food just as a kind gesture. So, Dick let him pay. The moral of this story is, God blesses those that bless others. Notice Dick gave the man that ask of him double the money than his request. Matt. 5:41 If a man asks you to go with him a mile, go with him two. And notice that when the fellow at the restaurant paid for Dick’s food it was double the amount that he had given the other fellow. Folks, you’ll never out give the Lord.

In the story of the good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37. The priest and Levite who where suppose to religious people avoided the man that had been beaten and robbed and left at the side of the road.

But the Samaritan had mercy and compassion for a fellow human being without regard to his nationality, race, social status. You see folks there are just times when you need to do the right thing because you know it’s the right thing according to God. God loves a cheerful giver.
