What if Children were to Walk in your shoes, where would it lead them?

Proverbs 22:6 – "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it." How many perfect parents are out there today? I can honestly say probably no one thinks that they are.

We as parents and grandparents are role models to our children. The way we live influences our children/grandchildren. Children often mirror from us positive and negative behaviors. The path we set for our children is crucial. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, we are influencing their choices, values, and faith. We must be modeling the trust we have in God. Children are observant and will see how we respond to difficulties, joys, and everyday challenges. When we trust in God and walk by faith, we give them a model of how to live with confidence in God’s sovereignty. The legacy we leave behind spiritually is very important.

Proverbs 4:11 says, "I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths."

Children inherit more than our physical traits, most importantly they inherit our values, priorities, and decisions. A Chrisitan legacy that we leave behind is worth leaving.

Children must have Godly guidance and direction. Psalms 119:105 tells us, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." God’s Word as the ultimate guide. We must take active steps to guide our children spiritually.

We as Adult must be walking in faith and integrity. Our kids must see the importance of walking in faith and integrity in our lives. Our children need to see what it looks like to walk by faith, even in difficult times. Our children learn not just through teaching, but by observing how we as parents/grandparents handle challenges, crises, and blessings.  Galatians 5:22-23 reads, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith. How we exhibit patience, kindness, and self-control will shape the character of our children.

The Impact of Our Choices matters.  What are we choosing to value? Where are we spending our time, energy, and resources? Our choices deeply impact the future of our children.

In Matthew 6:21 it says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Are we leading our children toward worldly things or toward heavenly things?

Let us all examine our lives and be the example God would have us to be. We all want our children to continue to walk with us in heaven, when this life is over.
