Bible Totin' Wife
I was talking to a fellow the other day, and he was relating an interesting incident that happened a few years ago. There was a controversy that had arisen in the congregation, because the spirit of digression and liberalism was at work in the hearts of some. The incident that was interesting was a comment made by one of the folks who was loose concerning the word of God. A man was told by this person, that you need to "get your Bible totin’ wife out of here." May we make a few observations.
This comment shows a contempt for God’s word. One would think, that those whose attitude is right, would appreciate any man or woman who holds and clings to the word of God. God’s man or woman needs to hold fast to the word of God, "Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers." Titus 1:9. But this is the attitude that rubs the liberal the wrong way, those who in faith and conviction hold to the word of God. The digressive may speak disparagingly, but the Lord commends the faithful. Revelation 2:2 "I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars." I think the Lord is proud of every Bible Totin’ child of God, who is committed to his truth.
