Pond Scum
I read an article one time in the Lexington Herald Leader with the title, "Scientists gaining more clues to the origin of life..." In the article it said, "Life is one. Flowers, yeast, butterflies, snails and humans - we all trace our ancestry to a simple, one-celled creature resembling modern blue-green algae, the stuff of pond scum." Let's make a few observations. Men have fertile imaginations! They have not traced all living things to pond scum. These pseudo-scientists may think that their great-great-great-great-great . . . grandparents were "pond scum," but not mine. Let's illustrate it this way. If we were to cut each letter of this short article apart separately, and took all these separate pieces of paper into a corner of a room, then took a fan and blew them around. How many times and how long would you think it would take for them to "accidently," by blind chance or dumb luck, for all of them fall into place? Who can "believe" it could ever happen? It would take a blind leap of faith on the part of one to accept such a conclusion. Yet, I think we can "trace our ancestry" back to a common point, "
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." Gen.1:1. Again on Jn.1:3, "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." Now faith in an intelligent creator seems to be much more reasonable, in explaining the orderly world we live in. The evidence of world we live in, with it's immense complexity and order is compelling for one to conclude there is an intelligent designer. "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:" Rom.1:20. I was just thinking, the next time you have your kids or grandkids down to a pond, please don't let them throw rocks into the water, (which most kids like to do) for they may kill some "pond scum" a pseudo-scientists' relatives!
