A Gallon of Milk
I was talking with Robbie Cable the other day, he related a sad incident. It was about a five year old girl, whose parents are hooked on drugs. They dont work much and slum around constantly, They spend what they can get on drugs. Thus the little girl and her younger brother suffer from deprivation of some of the basics of life. When a relative of the little girl ask what she could get her for her birthday, the girl replied "A Gallon of Milk." How heartbreaking and touching a story like this is!
How can parents neglect such a precious gift as a child? "Behold children are a gift of the LORD: The fruit of the womb is a reward." Ps.127:3 NAS. How profane to neglect precious gifts from the Lord! Profane means, people who fail to hold in respect and honor that which is to be held as such. God will hold profane people accountable, "Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers," I Tim.1:9.
Its goes to show you the destructive nature of choosing to get hooked on drugs. Its amazing the horridus choices people will make when they get addicted to drugs. People will steal, rob, lie, cheat, hurt, sometimes even kill, swindle, embezzle, and yes even neglect and take food out of a little girls mouth! Drunkards, by either ethyl alcohol, prescription drugs or illegal drugs is condemned in the Bible. "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God." I Cor.6:9-10.
We hope that someday these folks wake up to their sinful ways and repent, and buy their children a gallon of milk every time they need it!
