Angels
This is a sermon outline with the points and scriptures on the topic of angels.
Intro. The words angel and angels are found 295 times in the KJV. All questions on this subject can be answered from the principles of Deut.29:29. What is revealed - Book, Chapter, Verse. All other questions: I Don't know.
I Define: A messenger. To deliver a message. The word describes the function not nature. Word sometimes - human Aangels, Luke 7:24,20.
II What Is Revealed:
* Created beings - Col.1:16. Intelligent but not omniscient, I Pet.1:12
* Spirit Beings - Hebs. 1:14. Sometimes appear as men: Ac.10:30,3, Lk.24:4,23.
* Higher Order - Heb.2:7,9; II Pet.2:11.
* Not Marry or Die - Matt.22:30; Lk.20:35-36. (Always spoken of in the male gender).
* Company - Not a race as human race; Heb.12:22.
* Large Number - Heb.12:22 (from man's standpoint); Mat.26:53; Rev.5:11
* Can See Events of Earth - I Cor.4:9; I Tim.3:16
* Powerful - Gen.19:1,13; II Kings 19:35; Ac.12:23; Ac.5:19; Ac.12:7-11. But not too powerful, Rm.8:38.
* Meek - Jude 9
* They Have a Language - I Cor.13:1
* Some Fell Into Sin - Jude 6, II Peter 2:4.
* They Worship God - Rev.5:11-12; Heb.1:6. Not worship them, Rev.22:8-9.
* God Sends Them For Our Welfare - Heb.1:14; Ps.103:20-21; Lk.22:43. What about Guardian angels? Consider: Mat.18:10; Ac.12:15; Ps.34:7.
* Had a Part in the Giving of O.T. Law - Heb.2;2; Gal.3:19, Ac.7:53.
* Appeared in Life of the Lord - Mary and Joseph: Lk.1:26-38; Mat.1:20-24. Shepherds at Birth: Luke 2:8-15. Temptation: Mat.4:11. In Gethsemane: Luke 22:43. Resurrection: Matt.28:1-7. Ascension: Ac.1:10-11 * Rejoice Over Sinners Who Repent - Lk.15:7-10
* Carry Righteous When Die - Luke 16:22, (A plurality of angels)
* Archangel - Jude 7; I Thes.4:16
* At the 2nd Coming - Voice of the Archangel: I Thes.4:16. Mighty Angels: 2 Thes.1:7. All the Holy: Mat.25:31. Reapers: Matt.13:39.
* Wicked Angels Destiny - Mat.25:41
