Care-Front

I went to the meeting down at Monticello recently, and heard Raymond Castillo. He used an interesting phrase when talking about our responsibilities toward our children. When we are trying to teach and challenge our children about God's law and ways on topics like friends, dating and sex, alcohol and drugs, money, behavior, the importance of God and his church, we need to confront or ACare-Front them with the will of God. It is parents' responsibility to train and instruct children in the way of the Lord. AAnd, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Eph.6:4 NRSV. AAnd these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. Deuteronomy 6:6-9. It is Mothers and Fathers that have the primary responsibility to instruct their children in the ways of the Lord. Grandparents, Bible class teaching, preaching, can augment, fortify, contribute, amplify, enhance, reinforce the teachings of parents, but parents have the primary job to ACare-Front our kids with the principles of the scriptures. And it is with care and love that parents teach, admonish, warn and discipline with the rod of correction. AHe who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him. Prov.13:24 NIV. The task and challenge of ACare-Fronting@ children with teaching and showing them how to live and behave is no small task. But if we fail, consider this, AThe rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame. Prov.29:15. Yet if we will give the time and effort to ACare-Front our kids, consider this: ACorrect thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul. Prov.29:17.
