Naked News
While in Esmeraldas Ecuador, we were staying at a hotel there in the city. Miguel picked up a local newspaper called the "La Hora" (The Hour). I was looking through it before we were to go to services. They had an article about a new TV news service called the "Naked News." It features female news reporters that are topless. It is amazing the shamelessness of folks in the world. Who would have ever thought about such a ploy as this to report news? In God fearing, respectable people, it would never have crossed one’s mind. The Lord has ordained that we are to cover the shame of our nakedness. "I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see." Rev.3:19. Now somebody says but this text is talking about a spiritual application. This is true, but it is drawn from the truth of the physical realm. God clothed Adam and Eve after they fell into sin. "Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them." Now what we have is the "Naked News" team undoing God’s order of things. Makes one wonder what might be next, "Naked Cashiers" at the supermarkets, department stores, office supply stores, gas stations, restaurants, etc.? Wonder if people will have "Naked Bank Tellers" to wait on you when you stop in at the bank next time? "Naked Attendants" at all the amusement parks around the country? Seems that human beings have a really creative nature, sometimes for very good things, but sometimes for a lot of bad things, like "Naked News." Consider, "Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents." Rom.1:30. Paul is listing the sins of the Gentiles in this context. We hope the new TV news show "Naked News" will be a failure, but considering how things are in the societies around the globe, I would imagine that it will be a success among some folks in the world.
