No Euros in the Wallet
I was reading a report from a brother in Spain who is describing some of the efforts to spread the gospel. He talks about posting flyers in the markets of a town called Dos Hermanas. Here is an except from his report:
"One of the flyers, entitled ‘I’ve Won!’, presents forgiveness of sin and eternal life as far greater ‘prizes’ than any lottery ticket could ever offer. A little picture of a treasure chest on the flyer seemed to draw people’s attention as they began to read, but as soon as they realized that it would not add Euros to their wallet, the flyer was conveniently discarded like a used Kleenex."
The thought that sticks in my mind is, "but as soon as they realized that it would not add Euros to their wallet, the flyer was conveniently discarded like a used Kleenex." The Euro is the currency that is being used through much of Europe. We would say it this way, "but as soon as they realized that it would not add Dollars to their wallet, the flyer was conveniently discarded like a used Kleenex." Rest assured that the mind set of some in Spain, can certainly be found here in the good ole USA, (or any other country, for that fact of the matter). How many have the love of money in their hearts? Paul speaks about this attitude, "But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." I Tim.6:6-10. Remember that money will only last for the here and now, and it’s riches are uncertain. But, we can lay up treasures in heaven, when we become Christians and use our blessings to share and promote the cause of Christ, Matt.6:19-21. In this way we can have "Euros" that will last in eternity. Have you made the choice to get on the road that leads to heaven?
