Realigned

I was reading an interesting piece that Vernon gave me from a newspaper article entitled, AWhy do Christians worship on Sunday? Let me quote from that article. AIn a letter from Pliny to Emperor Trajan (Bythinia, 111A.D.) Pliny writes about the Christians worshipping >Jesus the Roman Criminal on Sunday.' So the early church took the forth commandment about the keeping the Sabbath holy, and realigned it under the resurrection of Jesus to now be Sunday the first day of the week. Let us note some things about this excerpt.

First, it is true and accurate that the early Christians meet on the first day of the week to worship. Some try to say that the worshiping on Sundays, was started by the apostate Roman Catholic church, that they were the ones that changed the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday. But the historical quote from Pliny (111A.D.) is powerful testimony of the historical conduct of early Christians well before the first Pope of the apostate church about 500 years after the historical document quoted.

Secondly, this article follows along the line of thinking that we spoke about above, that Athe early church took the forth commandment about the keeping the Sabbath holy, and realigned it under the resurrection of Jesus to now be Sunday the first day of the week. This kind of sectarian, human thinking is the very thing that has lead to apostasy time after time! The church does not Arealigned any of God's commandments. The true church is simply the people of God, who are seeking to obey God's will. The church is not the lawgiver, nor is mere man, but Jesus revealed his will by the Spirit unto his holy apostles and prophets, Eph.3:3-5. What God revealed in his word is that the early Christians met on the first day of the week to worship, Acts 20:7, I Cor.16:1-2. The Lord is the one who teaches us to worship on the first day of the week. Jesus did not Achange the Sabbath day as some claim, nor did the apostate church Achange the Sabbath day. But God ordain by approved example for us to worship on the first day of the week. What people really need to do, is to Arealign their thinking to God's word, not to the traditions and human reasonings of men, Is.55:8-9.
