Stolen Fetus Case
The past few weeks there has been in the news about a gruesome event that took place out in Missouri. What happen was a pregnant woman had been corresponding by the Internet with another woman. They had been discussing the pregnancy, so the assailant was aware of how far she was along with the baby. She was 8 months pregnant, obviously the baby could easily survive outside the womb. This crazed woman went to the house of the pregnant lady, an when she had opportunity, got behind her and strangled her with a cord. Then she immediately proceeded to cut the pregnant lady's belly open and take the baby and fled. There are some points we want to consider.
First, the gruesome, barbaric act of the assailant. To steal a baby is bad enough, but to murder a mother and rip the baby from the womb is horrific. This is not the only time that humans can be barbaric and cruel to a fellow human being(s). Another point comes to mind is, that the assailant is charge with kidnaping. How does one justify calling the AStolen Fetus a Akidnap@ case. The word kidnap is defined: To steal a child; to seize and hold or carry off (a person) against his will, by force, or fraud, often for a ransom.. So do we rightly call the unborn child a person or simply a Afetus, Apregnancy tissue,@ Aexcess human cells@? Can't have it both ways. The scriptures simply call what is in the womb before birth, a baby, AWhen Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Luke 1:41 NIV. It the same word used in Luke 2:12 about Jesus right after he was born, AYou will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.. Yes, it sinful to violently steal the unborn baby, as well as to violently kill the unborn baby in a abortion.
