Tantrum on Tape
I was watching the news recently about an incident that happen in Florida and some of it was videotaped. A young girl who was sent to the office for misbehavior was shown swinging and trying to hit the school official, climbing on the table, and not cooperating as she threw her tantrum. They called the police after being told by her mother that they better not lay a hand on her daughter and they could not control the child. The 2 police officers were having trouble controlling the girl, so they had to handcuff her to restrain her wild rebellious behavior. Lets make a few observations about this incident.
First, the mother "needs a good wearing out" herself for not disciplining her child and then to tell the people at school better not lay a hand on her daughter. "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes." Prov.13:24. This mother did not truly love her child as we see from this verse. The little girls temper tantrums could be easily brought under control with love and the rod of correction. Consider these verses, "Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying." Prov.19:18. "The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame....Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul." Prov.29:15, 17. Its so sad a parent with such a warped view about what it means to be a parent. It is "moral child abuse" for a mother to let a 5 year old child be so disrespectful, rebellious to adults and then for her to chastise and threaten the adults over the matter. If the young girl does not learn to respect authority, she is headed for trouble the rest of her life. Everybody has to follow rules to get along in life. If you dont learn it at home, you will be disorderly and disruptive at school, at work, in society and against God. And God is not going to be permissive and wishy-washy about rebellion and sin. For in the end it will be severely punished.
