The Will of God
We would like to study for a few moments concerning the will of God. The scriptures have much to say on this important topic.
First we need to understand the will of the Lord, Ephesians 5:17 "Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is." This is going to take some effort on our part, to seek and search the scriptures; doing so with an honest and humble heart. We must prove what God’s will is, not just assume it to be so, Rm.12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." By doing God’s will, it will make us a part of Christ family, Mark 3:35, "For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother." We must give ourselves to God, but not on our terms, but according to his will, 2 Cor.8:5, "And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God." Doing God's will, shall bring suffering for his names sake, 1 Pet.4:19 "Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator." After we have done the will of God, not before, we shall receive the promise, Heb.10:36, "For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise." Only those who do the will of God shall abide forever in heaven, 1 Jn. 2:17, "And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."
