Ninguno
In our travels in Ecuador and Panama, there where some interesting things this year. One of the classic moments was while we were in Tena. This place is in eastern lowland section of Ecuador part of the Amazon basin. We were teaching about Jesus' teaching technique, "Have you not read..." We first develop the concept as found in the gospels, as Jesus used it several times in teaching the proud Jews on various topics. Then we talk about some various applications using the point, "Have you not read..." People use all kinds of vain reasoning to promote error and sin in various ways in life. We were discussing that people promote immodesty in the world in which we live in. Folks go to public swimming pools and such, thinking that wearing the modern "swimsuit" is ok because most people says that it is ok. I asked what is the difference between under garments and the "colored underwear" that people call "swimsuits." After a few second pause, Emily, who is 5 years old, spoke up and said "Ninguno" a Spanish word that means "not any." It was GREAT! I think of that phrase Jesus used, "Out of the mouth of babes..." certainly comes to mind. Surely if a 5 year old girl can see there is no difference in "colored underwear" (or swimsuits) and underwear, why can not the rest of the adults concede to the point. Most folks have a reserve in themselves not to go out into the public in their underwear. The sense of shame holds them back. But change the color and the name, and people think nothing about going out in the public such as swimming pools and such. "In like manner, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefastness and sobriety; not with braided hair, and gold or pearls or costly raiment;" 1 Tim2:9. What is the difference? Ninguno!
