On this day you will be with me in Paradise!
This is what Jesus told the thief on the cross, when that thief acknowledged that Jesus was innocent, then the thief asks the other criminal, do you not fear God? Luke 23:39-43 reads. And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, do you not fear God, seeing you are in the same condemnation? VS 41 And we are condemned justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hasn’t done nothing wrong. VS 42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord remembers me when you come into your kingdom. VS 43 And Jesus said unto him, verily I say unto you, today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Let us make a couple of observations about this scripture, First Jesus was given the authority to do God’s will, Matt 28:18 says, All power is given unto me in heaven and earth. So, a person can change his or her will while they are living but that will should be honored after the person is dead. So, it is with God’s will that was accomplished through Christ. Hebrew 9:15-17 tells us, Because he is the mediator of the New Testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. VS 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. VS 17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise, it is of no strength at all while the testator lives.
Christ will for all men and women is that they would come unto him seeking the salvation which can only be found in him. Forgiveness of sins and an eternal abode with him in heaven when this short life is over. His will, his plan of salvation is revealed in the New Testament. John 3:17 says, For God sent not his son into the world; not to condemn the world but the world through him might be saved.
